American-made Jeep SUVs and crossovers are incredibly popular these days. We love to recommend them to our Port Arthur customers, thanks in large part to the rugged and sporty utility they offer, as well as their high levels of quality and innovative features.

But, the fact remains that the Jeep company makes a wide variety of stellar SUVs, and it can be extremely difficult to choose between them. Mid County Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram can help. So, if the question is:

Which Jeep Should I Buy? Consider:

  1. Budget. From entry-level models to the top-of-the-line Jeep Grand Cherokee, there's a Jeep SUV for every budget.
  2. Size. From the subcompact Renegade to the roomy Cherokee, choose the one you want depending on your needs.
  3. Off-Road Capability. If your adventures take you off the beaten path, consider whether you want any of the Jeep models that are trail-rated.

For a model-by-model breakdown of all the various crossovers Jeep offers, read on. We've researched all of the models we have in stock, to make your decision process easier.

Jeep Compass

The Jeep Compass has been getting a lot of attention in recent years, for good reason. The model recently received a huge makeover, making it better and more popular than ever.

The Jeep Compass is a compact crossover, larger than the subcompact Jeep Renegade, but smaller than the Jeep Cherokee. It has four doors and seating for up to five people.

Jeep Compass trim level options include:

  • Jeep Compass Sport
  • Jeep Compass Latitude
  • Jeep Compass Limited
  • Jeep Compass Trailhawk

Finally, the Jeep Compass is equipped with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that offers 180 horsepower. Every trim, except the Trailhawk, comes with rear-wheel drive standard and all-wheel drive as an option. The Trailhawk only comes with all-wheel drive.

Jeep Cherokee

The biggest difference between Jeep's largest SUV offerings is size. Both the Cherokee and the Grand Cherokee are two-row, five-passenger SUVs. But, the Jeep Grand Cherokee measures overall larger than the Cherokee, giving passengers more headroom and drivers more cargo space.

Additionally, the Jeep Grand Cherokee gives drivers more options for how they want their SUV powered. The Jeep Grand Cherokee engine options include a V6, a 5.7-liter V8, a V6 diesel option, and a high-powered 6.4-liter V8 SRT (Street and Racing Technology) version.

Comparatively, the Jeep Cherokee only comes in two engine options, either a 4-cylinder or a V6.

The Jeep Cherokee trim levels include:

  • Jeep Cherokee Latitude
  • Jeep Cherokee Latitude Plus
  • Jeep Cherokee Limited
  • Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk
  • Jeep Cherokee Overland

Jeep Grand Cherokee

The Jeep Grand Cherokee, meanwhile, comes in an a choice of seven trim levels.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee trim options include:

  • Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo
  • Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited
  • Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk
  • Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland
  • Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit
  • Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT
  • Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk

Jeep Renegade

The Jeep Renegade is the baby in the Jeep family of SUV crossovers. Not only is it the newest vehicle in the lineup, it's also the smallest.

The cute and quirky Renegade may be small, but it packs a lot of personality. It has four doors, two rows of seating, and a number of throwback traits that remind drivers of early Jeep models, including round headlights and a vertical-slot front grille.

In one of our favorite Jeep throwbacks, you can also order your Renegade with removable roof panels. This feature gives you a feeling similar to driving the fun, convertible Jeep Wrangler.

The trim options for the Jeep Renegade include:

  • Jeep Renegade Sport
  • Jeep Renegade Latitude
  • Jeep Renegade Limited
  • Jeep Renegade Trailhawk

Jeep Patriot

The Jeep Patriot is an SUV crossover with all the style and personality drivers love about the Jeep brand, but in an easy-to-drive size. The Jeep Patriot is a breeze to park on city streets and to navigate in traffic, plus, it gives you the elevated driver's seat and high ground clearance you crave in an SUV.

The budget-friendly Jeep Patriot is also a two-row, four-door crossover that seats five and comes in a couple of trim options, with a number of sub-trim options drivers can choose from as well.

The Jeep Patriot trim level options include:

  • Jeep Patriot Sport
  • Jeep Patriot Latitude

Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

The Jeep Wrangler and its larger counterpart, the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, are the quintessential adventure-friendly Jeep model. Recognizable across the country as a rugged SUV that's up for anything, the Wrangler models have been a popular choice for American drivers for decades.

The only real difference between the Jeep Wrangler and the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is size. Both come with your choice of either a hardtop or softop removable roof for top-down, convertible fun. The original, two-door Jeep Wrangler seats four people in its compact frame, while the larger, family-friendly Jeep Wrangler Unlimited can seat five with its four-door style.

Both the Jeep Wrangler and the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited can come with as many or as few tech features as you want. The base trim actually comes equipped with very few, but the top trims are decked out with great tech features. Plus, the Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited trims have increasing amounts of off-road abilities, with the top trim getting the most rugged utility.

The Jeep Wrangler and the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited have the same trim levels, including:

  • Jeep Wrangler/Wrangler Unlimited Sport
  • Jeep Wrangler/Wrangler Unlimited Sahara
  • Jeep Wrangler/Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon
